  • Significant copper intersected in all 25 Candente holes drilled to date
  • Leachable copper makes up 44% of the deposit grid-drilled to date
  • Copper system expanded more than five fold since inferred resource of 1B lb copper and 243,000 oz gold
  • Deposit still open in all directions
  • Low strip ratio (leach cap averages only 44 m)
Vancouver, British Columbia, October 3rd, 2005. Candente Resource Corp. (DNT:TSX) is pleased to report that diamond drilling is about to recommence at Cañariaco Norte, Northern Peru. Candente has drilled 25 holes to date on the property and all holes have intersected significant copper mineralization. In addition approximately 44% of the deposit delineated to date is leachable.

The drill is being mobilized to the first site, Hole # 26, which will focus on extending the deposit to the southwest where leachable copper occurs over 346 m in thickness. Drilling to date this year has nearly tripled the surface expression (from 14 to 38 hectares) and more than doubled the vertical extent (640 m) of copper mineralization and no limits to the mineralization have been found yet.

Joanne Freeze, P.Geo., President and CEO comments that "the leachable zones being delineated at the southern end of the grid-drilled area could prove to be excellent starter pit zones for a leachable copper operation. We are very excited to start drilling again and continue to expand the deposit. Drilling this year has already shown more than a five fold increase to the extent of mineralization. Last year's drilling delineated an inferred resource of 1.035 B lb copper and 243,000 oz gold."
